These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the use of the Bills42 app and services ("Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Bills42 is (and what it is not)

Bills42 is an organization tool: it helps families record bills to pay, share them among the members of a home, receive due-date reminders, and keep a payment history.

Bills42 is not a financial institution, does not process bill payments, does not access bank accounts, and does not provide financial advice. Reminders are an aid — responsibility for paying bills, deadlines, interest, and late fees is always yours.

2. Account and eligibility

• You must be 18 years of age or older to use the Service.
• Access is through your Apple or Google account. You are responsible for keeping control of your device and your credentials.
• Your profile information (such as your display name) must be truthful and must not impersonate another person.

3. Homes and shared content

• A "home" is a shared space: all members see and can edit the home's bills, record payments (including on behalf of another member, with a record of who made the entry), and invite new people.
• Invite only people you trust. The invite link grants access to the home to whoever opens it within its validity period (7 days).
• When you leave a home, you lose access to its bills; the data remains for the other members. If you are the last member, the home becomes inaccessible.
• You are responsible for the content you add. Do not use the Service for content that is illegal, offensive, or infringes third-party rights.

4. Free plan, ads, and Bills42+

• The free plan allows participation in one home and includes the Service's essential features, with ads shown.
• Bills42+ is a monthly subscription, purchased and automatically renewed through the App Store or Google Play, that removes ads, adds extra reminders (48h, 24h, and the morning of the due date), and allows participation in multiple homes.
• Price, billing, renewal, and cancellation follow the rules of the store where you subscribed. You can cancel at any time through the store; access remains until the end of the period already paid. We do not refund amounts paid, except where required by law or by the store's policy.
• If your subscription ends and you belong to multiple homes, the app will ask you to choose one home to keep on the free plan.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) attempt to access data of homes you are not a member of; (b) circumvent free-plan limits or the Service's technical controls; (c) use the Service for spam, fraud, or any illegal activity; (d) interfere with the Service's operation or deliberately overload it; (e) reverse-engineer it, except where the law permits.

6. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available, but it is provided "as is", with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may change, add, or discontinue features; relevant changes will be communicated through the app or the website with reasonable notice.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bills42 is not liable for indirect damages or for losses arising from: bills paid late or unpaid (including interest and late fees), decisions made based on information in the app, temporary unavailability of the Service, or content added by members of your home. Nothing in these Terms removes rights guaranteed to you by the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code or other applicable legislation.

8. Termination

• You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing contact@bills42.app (see the Privacy Policy).
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice when possible.

9. Intellectual property

Bills42, its brand, visual identity, and software are owned by us or licensed to us. These Terms do not transfer any rights over them to you, beyond a personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app.

10. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. When you are a consumer, the courts of your place of residence are elected to resolve disputes arising from these Terms.
